Dynamics AX vs 365: What are the differences?
The biggest difference between Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 is that Dynamics 365 is cloud based and does not require the same on-prem resources for hosting that were needed for Dynamics AX.
Also, because Dynamics AX has been wrapped into Dynamics 365, an integrated CRM component is now available. Previously, Dynamics AX customers would have had to have used Dynamics CRM separately in an unintegrated fashion.
Additionally, users will find in Dynamics 365 a host of other core changes including web-based logins, a new interface, improved business intelligence, more frequent updates and increased flexibility with regard to licensing and pricing.
Finally, many new features and improvements have been introduced with Dynamics 365. For example, Workspaces replace Role Centers, which allow new users unfamiliar with the tool to filter datasets without having a grasp on SQL, and therefore, increase productivity from the start. There is also improved search, inventory balance overviews, embedded BI reports and performance monitoring, just to name a few more features.
Upgrading from Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365
Microsoft is offering users of Dynamics AX a 40% discount on licenses if they move to Dynamics 365 Business Central. This discount applies until 21st June 2021 and is available on cloud and hybrid deployment options.
