Everything about PowerApps
What is Microsoft PowerApps?
PowerApps is a platform to build business applications for internal use. It is a ‘low-code’ solution designed to be accessible for users who are not programmers.
The tool provides a way to connect to internal company data sources, or extend the functionality of Office 365 applications such as SharePoint. To build these apps, you can use PowerApps studio.
Users can deploy their apps and make them available for iOS, Android and Windows operating systems.
PowerApps for Office 365
PowerApps allows users to extend and customize the functionality of Office 365 applications.
While deeply integrated with Office 365 applications, PowerApps can also request external data from selected services via ‘connectors’.
PowerApps Office 365 license
PowerApps is licensed on a per-user basis. This means that each user who creates and runs apps must have an individual license. Office 365 and Dynamics 365 include individual PowerApps licenses out-of-the-box. Therefore, users of these packages can immediately benefit from the PowerApps and Microsoft Flow capabilities that are already included.
Additional functionality can be gained on more advanced plans.
PowerApps Studio is a browser application design to edit PowerApps. To help non-coders design user interfaces, it includes a drag-and-drop canvas in the center of the screen and a screen or object list pane on the left. Properties, Rules, and Advanced Properties for selected screens or controls are displayed in the right pane.
PowerApps help and training
PowerApps has a dedicated support center complete with guided learning and full documentation. Additionally, the product community can help users answer questions, solve issues and share knowledge.
PowerApps vs Mendix
Like PowerApps, Mendix is also a low-code solution which opens up application development to non-coders. Both tools make it easy to create apps quickly and rely on visual tools.
For businesses who work closely with Microsoft software then PowerApps ability to integrate with programs such as Excel and SharePoint could be beneficial.
